Industrial microscopes
Metallography is the study of the physical structure and components of metals, through the use of microscopy. Many different microscopy techniques are used in metallographic analysis. Prepared specimens should be examined with the naked eye after etching for any visible areas that have responded to the etch differently than the norm as a guide to where microscopic examination should be employed. Light optical microscopy (LOM) examination should always be performed before any electron metallography (EM) technique, as it is more time consuming and the instruments are much more expensive.
